Before you start any work on your lawn's sprinkler system, ask
yourself these important questions:
1. Is the
contractor an irrigator licensed by the state of Texas?
By law, anyone installing or servicing an irrigation system in Texas must be licensed
by the state of Texas. Fort Worth Lawn Sprinkler Co. operates under founder
Price Hulsey's license, number 371. Mr. Hulsey was among the first irrigators
to be licensed by the state in 1975.
2. Will a
plan be drawn of the completed job for future service reference?
When our crew completes your installation, the crew leader will draw a map of
your property showing the locations of all the heads, electric valves and
pipe. An as-built drawing will help you know where each individual zone is in
your yard. More importantly, your as-built drawing will help you should you
decide to alter your yard, perhaps by putting in a pool. With the drawing, we
can easily cap and reroute lines as needed to minimize reconstruction of the
sprinkler system once the project is complete. Starting a project, such as
putting in a pool, without taking appropriate measures with the sprinkler
system could cost thousands of dollars in repair to the parts of your sprinkler
system that were damaged during construction. Click here to see an example of an as-built drawing.
3. Are
multiple brands used in the system or one manufacturer to simplify future
service?
We use RainBird products exclusively. RainBird is the oldest and most
reliable manufacturer of irrigation equipment in the world. We started out
using RainBird products in 1975. We wish we had never changed! Their quality
over the years has been unsurpassed, and in today's market, they are the
obvious choice for best product. Our repair experience has proven a system is
much easier to service when one brand is selected instead of a combination of
manufacturers.
4. Will
ditches be left level with your yard and guaranteed not to sink?
Our crews compact all ditches with water, in stages, to ensure that the dirt
does not sink. If your ditches do sink, we will return immediately with fresh
topsoil and redress the ditches as needed.
5. Will 18
gauge multi-strand wire be used for burial, rather than heavier, industry
approved 14 or 16 gauge single strand wire?
We only use the highest grade materials available. Using smaller, cheaper
wire may save money in the beginning, but it will cost much, much more in
repairs during the life of the system. Click here to see the difference between wire types.
6. Is there
a real local office you can contact for prompt customer service or is there
only an answering machine?
Our office is located at 5124 West Vickery Blvd. Click here for directions to our office.
Customers don't have to worry about trying to catch us on a pager. Our phones
are answered by a real live person from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm,
7. Does the
company have a proven record of satisfactory performance and suitable
experience?
Fort Worth Lawn Sprinkler Co. has an impressive clientele of almost 9,000
customers. We maintain an extensive database and keep records of all work
performed and any other pertinent information regarding you, the customer.
Your salesman will show you a list of installations in your neighborhood
during his visit with you. Click here for examples of our commercial
installations.
8. Will the
design allow the sprinkler heads to hit the house with water?
Simply stated, no. A sprinkler design that allows water to
spray onto the house or fence or into the street may be less expensive to
install, but it will definitely cost more money in the long run. Our systems
are designed to keep water from spraying onto the house and fences,
preventing wood rot and water stains. We would never allow a system to spray
into the street. It is a huge waste of water, and your money.
9. Are the
shrubs watered separately from the turf?
We feel that one of the most important aspects of design is to separate the
shrub areas from sprinkler heads that water the grass. Horticulturists insist
that deep watering is necessary to assure a healthy, deep root system for
shrubs, while open grass areas usually won't accept that much water at once
without a lot of waste. For optimum results, we always recommend a
dual-program controller that will allow the grass to be watered more frequently
than the shrubs.
10. Who
actually installs the system - subcontractors or employees?
You will appreciate the reliability and efficiency of our personnel. The crew
assigned to your project are employees of Fort Worth Lawn Sprinkler Company
and are not part-time or sub-contractors. They do not jump from job to job.
You are their only responsibility until your installation is completed, and
the crew leader is always present to supervise quality. Since the quality of
your jobs depends so much on the experience of your installation crew, you
will be as proud as we are that all three crew leaders have worked for Fort
Worth Lawn Sprinkler Company more than 20 years each! Our customers boast about
the exceptional workmanship and pleasant crew who installed their system.
11. Will you
be asked to pay before work actually begins?
Good contractors do not ask for money before they begin work. Prepayments are
a risk to the customer relationship from the beginning. Fort Worth Lawn
Sprinkler Company asks for payment only when the job is complete and the
customer is satisfied.
